Have you ever felt like your life was a series of punishments from God?
If so, I have something to share with you.
To start, I must share a few parts of my morning routine.
Every morning the first thing I do is meditate.
Then I grab my journal, and express gratitude for the peace of mind that I just experienced, and allow other thoughts to make it to the page.
It’s a powerful process of gratitude that sets up my day to one where I see in detail the blessings of my life.
Afterward, I allow myself to listen to a good podcast or I pick up a book to let allow new ideas to marinate in my mind. As a content creator, it’s vital that I allow for new perspectives into my head so that I can then take the inspired thoughts that come and create impactful content for those that choose to engage with me.
This morning I decided to dive into the book, “Conversations With God, Book 1” by Neale Donald Walsh.
It’s one of my most favorite books.
If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. Regardless of where you are at spiritually, it’s packed with so much powerful stuff relating to God and spirituality that forces you to identify what your core beliefs actually are.
Your life changes at an instant the moment you identify your core beliefs.
Anyway, the book is set up like a conversation. The author poses a question, God gives a response and there’s a banner that reads like a Q&A. The questions that the author poses are some of the simplest, yet profound queries. And “God’s” responses are just as profound.
It’s a very unique book. Even if you don’t believe that “God” would respond in such a fashion; STILL, READ IT.
In one part of the book, the author asks God a question about the specifics of Heaven and Hell.
Are they real? What are they really?
God then responds with a question when asked “where” hell is.
He says (and I’m paraphrasing), “Don’t you think it would be easier for me just to get rid of you then to create a place like your understanding of hell? An actual physical location? Look, there are consequences to every decision that you make. You can decide if you want to interpret those consequences as punishment or you can just recognize that there is a natural law to which everything goes through and those consequences are a part of that natural law. That could be your Hell.”
The author probes further about punishment, and the idea of Hell. God’s response was even more insightful.
“If you don’t take care of your body, you’re going to have bad health. Does that mean you’re being punished with bad health? No. It means you have bad health as a result of your decisions. In regard to the definition of Hell, Hell is the absolute worst outcome of the decisions that you could make.”
As I read these passages a few things popped out for me. Knowing that there is a natural law that governs everything, if you make shitty choices over and over and over again you will be experiencing the worst outcome possible. It is…
Punishment? Or natural law.
It’s just the effect of natural law works that surrounds you with the consequences of all your decisions.
There are zero factors of punishment in any of that.
We are not punished for anything, we just have to live by natural law.
There are consequences to everything. Not punishment, just consequences.
And it’s your personal interpretation of the consequences to dictate whether you’re in Heaven or Hell.
Deep introspection had me thinking that we as humans are extremely arrogant.
Think about that, we think we’re so fantastical that God would punish us just for playing in the playground that He put us in.
“Here’s the playground, just don’t actually play or do anything here..”
Confusing isn’t it?
We are here on Earth, we’re a part of the human family. We do things a certain way. The game was set up before we got here.
Sometimes understand what we’re experiencing, other times we have no clue.
But, we’re here.
There is no punishment for playing the game of life. There are just results!
I encourage you to free yourself from the idea that your life is a punishment.
It’s not a punishment at all, it’s just a result.
I repeat. It’s just a result.
You do things a certain way, you get a certain result. You don’t do them a certain way, you don’t get a result.
We are the ones that over-complicate this. We think that God’s will dictates punishment or a lack of blessings based on some sort of qualifying behavior.
Not even close.
The reality of that type of thinking is that we are lazy. We are trying to give ourselves permission for work that we haven’t done by blaming God’s Will or timing as the reason that we didn’t get the intended blessing.
Life is simple.
It’s easy to see the pattern required to get whatever it is that you want if you remove the confusion of understanding God’s Will and just look further into natural law and it’s outcomes.
Do you want money? Do you want a better body? Do you want better relationships?
The map is there to get it. The formula is available to you. The tools are at your disposal.
It’s not complicated.
However, it can be extremely difficult.
Getting over yourself and tapping into those laws and rules and how they work takes detachment. You have to let go of past, non-serving beliefs. You have to accept yourself on an unconditional level and KNOW that your success (or Heaven) is a choice for you based on your adherence to the scientific laws of achievement. You have to allow yourself to receive this new world for yourself; loving each step in the process.
So…
My encouragement to you is to be okay with that. It’s plain and simple.
Remove the idea that you’re being punished.
There is no heaven or hell in that regard.
The hell is just you not living up to what you know you could BE.
And that’s self-inflicted.
Your behavior matters. It’s very easy to see exactly where each decision will take you.
You don’t like the results, make better decisions.
It’s pretty simple. There’s no punishment here. It’s simple math, A plus B equals C.
You don’t like what you’re getting, make different choices,
MAKE BETTER DECISIONS.
